Jewellery Holder

Lesson By Carol Jones

 SUPPLIES
Empty Spool from Mettler Thread
Glue
Cardboard
Nail Art or India Bindis (to cut apart for jewellery)
No Hole Beads
Tri-bead for top of jewellery holder
Ruler
Pencil
Xacto Knife
Tweezers (not shown in picture)
Paint
Brush

Step 1

This holder is meant for a jewellery store or for a jewellery display in a shop.  However, if you want to just display one pair of earrings on a dresser top, instead of using cardboard, use a napped piece of card, velveteen or ultra suede material on cardboard.

The whole thread holder doesn’t have to be painted, but the top and bottom where the writing shows needs to be painted.  The sample is done in white, but any colour will do.

Step 2
Glue a Tri-bead on top of the spool, or bead of your choice.  The sample also has another bead glued on top of the tri-bead

Step 3
Cut small cardboard in squares to fit the openings of the spool.  Note that the holes by the solid edges are a different size from the other openings.  The cardboard needs to be big enough so that some of it extends beyond the openings.

Step 4

Before you start to glue your earrings, note that some of the openings face one way and some another.  You will have to decide which row you are working on so that your earrings are glued closest to the edge which is extending out.

DO NOT TRY TO CENTER EARRINGS ON CARDBOARD

To make the earrings use Bindis (Indian Art jewellery found in Dollar Stores), or fancy fingernail ornaments, or small no-hole beads.   Look at the Bindis or nail ornaments and you will see that often you can get several pairs of earrings if these are cut apart.  Use parts, not the whole, decoration.  Put a dab of glue on the cardboard and then press the ‘earring’ into the glue.

Step 5
Glue cards into the spool.  Ta-Da!  It is now ready for your store counter.
