Fancy Dress Form

Lesson by Sue Vining, Photos by Carol Jones

Supplies

Chrysnbon Dress Form Kit
Gold or Silver Stickers
Gold Permanent Marker
Red or Blue Permanent Markers (Optional)
Testors Plastic Model Cement (glue especially made for gluing plastics)
Weldbond Glue (or any white glue)

Step One
Using an Xacto blade remove any imperfections or tag edges on the Dress Form pieces.

Step Two
Using Testors Plastic Model Cement, or any glue especially made for gluing plastics, and a toothpick, apply glue to the edges sparingly and glue the body together.  Do the same for the stand.

Let these dry well before proceeding to the next step.

Step Three

Shake the Liquid Gold Pen thoroughly before using.  Apply the Liquid gold to the bottom ‘cage’ part of the form and also to the top neck piece.

The Gold Marker will look like metal when it’s applied to the plastic.

Step Four
Gold or Silver Metallic stickers may be purchased at Dollar or Bargain Stores as well as drugstores.  Chose stickers with small designs and swirls.

Step Five

To make Metallic Blue or Metallic Red stickers, use the color permanent pens and just color over the silver stickers, by rubbing the color pens across it.

Note on the picture where the blue stickers are and the white is showing.  This shows that you do not have to follow the line of design, just scribble right over the design area so that when the sticker is removed, the design will all be filled in with color.

Step Six

Study your form and your stickers and plan where you would like to apply the stickers.

Remove the stickers carefully from the sheet and apply them to the dress form in a pleasing manner.  Take your time going around curves.

Step Seven
Using an all black form gives interesting ‘negative space’.  You can do as little or as much decorating as you wish, making each one unique

Step Eight
Once you have set your sticker design, use a small dab of craft glue to keep the ends in place.  You will see that sometimes along a curve, the end may be sticking up.  To ensure that the design is permanent, take your time in gluing these pieces down.

Step Nine
:  In this photo no hole beads were used to embellish the neckline.  Any tiny beads or gems could be used.

Step Ten
The color of the sticker changes the look of the dress form. This would give a unique look in a sewing room or a dress shop.  Dare to be different!
