Beaded Santa

Lesson by Carol Jones

Materials
10 Red Seed Beads / 3 Black Seed Beads / 2 White Seed Beads / 1 White Round Bead for Face / Q-tip or Cotton Batting, #34 Beading Wire or other Craft Wire / Tacky Glue / Toothpick / Straight Pin / Ruler / Wire Cutter

Step #1

Cut approximately 2" of wire, fold it in half with a toothpick in the center and make several twists.  This is the top of the ornament.

Put both wires through 2 Red Seed Beads, Large White bead, and 1 Black Seed Bead.

Step #2

Separate the wires for the legs.

On each wire put 2 Red Seed Beads and 1 Black Seed Bead.

Step #3

Fold back the wire of one leg so that the beads won't fall off.

Wind the wire of the other leg two times around a straight pin, then press it close to the black bead.

Do the same with the other leg.

Step #4

ARMS - Cut a length of wire approximately 2".

Wind one end of the wire twice around a pin.  Put on 1 white seed bead, 4 red seed beads, and one more white seed bead.

Wind the wire twice around a pin to finish off the arms.

Step 5

To attach the arms to the body, place the arm wire below the head, making sure that there are two red beads and a white one on either side of the center.

Twist the arm wires around the center wire; in other words, left becomes right and right becomes left. (Poor Santa!)

Step #6

Using a toothpick and black acrylic paint, put two eyes on the large bead.

Take apart a very small amount of cotton from the end of a Q-tip, or use a small amount of cotton batting, to use for Santa's beard.

Step #7

With a toothpick, apply a very small amount of glue on the big bead, then press the cotton batting into place for the beard.

Ta-da!  You now have a tiny Santa ornament to hang on your Christmas tree.
