MAKE SURE YOUR HANDS ARE CLEAN AND THAT YOUR WORK AREA IS CLEAN WHEN WORKING WITH FIMO, as it will pick up any dirt.
| Step 1 |
Measure out 00-Translucent (2 bars), 1 bar of 0-white; 1-yellow about the size of a small pea, and 02-flesh and 5-green slightly smaller.
| Step 2 |
Mix all of your colours together by kneading the fimo over and over until it is thoroughly blended.
| Step 3 |
When the colours are all thoroughly blended, made small rolls by first making a log, and then rolling it on the table by placing your hands in the center of the roll, and working towards the outside. When a roll is a couple of inches long, then cut it, and start a new roll. Try to make the rolls fairly uniform in size. Cut these rolls into small sections.
| Step 4 |
Form each section into a ball. If it looks too big, then cut the sections even smaller. You can see by the photo the approximate size of the balls, which will be your apples. Apples come in many different sizes, but try to make these as uniform as possible. Put all of these balls into a paper bag.
| Step 5 |
Rub chalks of various shades of green and yellow on to clean paper. You can use the edge of your Xacto blade to scrape the chalks also. Put these fine scrapings into the paper bag which has the apples.
| Step 6 |
Gently put the apples into the bag of chalk and coat the apples. They will come out in various subtle shades of green or yellow green. If the colour isn’t deep enough, add more chalk colour.
With a light touch, form the round shapes into a slight oval shape which is fatter on one end than the other.
| Step 7 |
Cut your branches, or brown coloured wires, and using tweezers, gently put in a stem. On the opposite side, made a small depression and put a bit of brown chalk. This step isn’t necessary if you are standing the apples up on a plate
Using a razor blade, you can cut a chunk out of the apple as if it has been bitten.
| Step 8 |
Using longer strokes with your razor blade, you can make it look as if your apple was peeled.
Rub a little bit of brown on to paper. Dip a brush into the brown chalk, then on a separate piece of paper, swish your brush back and forth to remove most of the color, then lightly brush your apple so it looks as if it has been browned where it was left after it was cut.
Bake at 265 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.
